The Guardian - UK

Judith Summers is an author who has written a novel called "Who Gets Fluffy?" about a couple who break up and both want their dog. Her first book, "My Life With George" is about her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. We had a lovely chat and she wrote this article for the Guardian:

CNN.com

Wow, CNN.com!! I love this article and my friend Sara Vreed was interviewed for it too. It was pointed out to me that this article made the #5 most emailed articles from cnn.com today. Pretty darn good for being just a newsworthy day (economy + Vice Presidential Debates, etc.).

WCSTFTD Goes Romanian!

Since I cannot read Romanian, I'm not sure what it actually says, but my book and I were mentioned in a Romanian news story.

It is so amazing to me that my name and We Can't Stay Together for the Dogs made the news in Romania!

Dogs Being Effected By Foreclosures, Gas Prices, and Recession

I've been seeing lots of things in the news lately about dogs who are losing their homes due to foreclosures, layoffs, and a general downturn in the economy.

The emotional turmoil and panic caused by losing one's house or job seems like it would be similar in scope and magnitude to the end of a serious longterm relationship.

In We Can't Stay Together For the Dogs, I talk about my own personal "what if I can't keep my dog?" freak-out, that happened when I realized that I would be on a tight budget and trying to find a rental to accommodate me and my two dogs. These issues (and more) led me to included the following Chapters:

Between a Rock and a Difficult Placement - This chapter addresses the fear that you might have to give up your dog and find a new home for him, offering lots of solutions for keeping him and resources for finding him the best possible home if there is no other option.

In the Dog House - This chapter has lots of tips on finding or creating a dog-friendly home for you and your dog.

Fine Tuning Finances - This chapter features a dog budget worksheet to figure out how much you are really spending on your dog.

Although We Can't Stay Together For the Dogs was written for dog owners experiencing a breakup, I think that much of the information could be helpful to people experiencing other types of life-changing situation.

Before you try to re-home your dog due to money woes, stop to consider the stress-relieving benefits of having a dog and work to find creative solutions that will allow you to keep your dog for both you and your dog's sake.

AM Northwest TV Interview

It was SO MUCH FUN being on Portland's morning show, AM Northwest! Helen and Dave were really great.

P.S. I think it is also important to note that since Kyra Sedgewick also appeared on the same show, I now have only 2 "degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon." =-)
